I've been having this issue since last month; sometimes it gets noisy all of a sudden for 10 minutes and then goes back to silent. Do you guys have any idea what the cause of this and how to fix it?

it may need a cleaning. Running fast is controlled by the CPU temp. It means the temp is high. Get some compressed air and clean it out.
