How to replace the cleaing sponge;Tausch des Tinten-/Reingungsschwamms

Hello,

regarding the printer model HP Officejet 4500

Does anyone have experience on how to replace the cleaning sponge (Which the printer uses for cleaning the print headers)

Furthermore I would be interested in where to buy such replacements or alternatvie products.

Mine seems to print inaccrurate caused by a spunge full of ink.

Thank you in advances.

Kind regards

Jann

Moin,

Vielen Dank.

Gruß

Jann

@jannborlinghaus let's see if our printer guru @nick has a solution about the waste ink pad on your printer.

Hey @jannborlinghaus mal schauen, ob unser Drucker-Experte @nick 'ne Lösung für das Problem mit dem Tintenauffangbehälter an deinem Drucker hat.

@oldturkey03 Not hard to do but the part is probably NLA so it has to be cleaned.

The 4500 uses the HP 60/901 (EU/Africa/Middle east)* cart so it doesn't have a hard stop; but when the pads fill, it does that behavior you seen.
*HP stopped making the 901 and just ships the 60 globally now, so the region issue is a wash now.

The part will probably be NLA these days, but you can take the old pads out and clean them with hose water - I've done it before and it works well on these, but not others with bigger pads. As far as disassembly goes there is no factory SM for this printer (either not published or made for cheap printers like this) but you have to take the scanner/ADF, but once you do that the panels come off fairly easily. This cartridge type uses a service station, so there's no need to mess with the base - you just need to pull the service station out on this model and remove the motor given you will need to use a hose to do it. I can't find a part# for the module, but it's not critical - the service station is on the side with the carts where they rest.
