I have a Mighty Mouse (corded, optical) that is not registering clicks correctly. The problem has gotten suddenly worse. It used to register a single click as a double click, now it seems to treat every attempt at clicking as a "half-click".

Sadly Apple treats these as throw-away devices!
We do have a nice teardown which gets you into the mouse Apple Mighty Mouse Teardown and Optical Sensor Observation. Checkout Step4 second image where you can see the micro switch (white plastic to the left of the spring steel in the middle. You'll need to remove the PCB to desolder the switch to replace it. Once you have it outlook through the spec sheets of a replacement.that assumes the spring is not the issue.
