MacBook is taking power but is not turning on

I bought this MacBook knowing that it didn't turn on. Now I'm under the hood, the light next to the battery disconnect is lighting up, but still no boot. When I plug it into power without the battery connected, the light comes on, but still nothing. The area around the keyboard warms up like my working MacBook Pro when charging. The MacBook is taking power but is not turning on. I've checked the charge port (no physical damage), all the ribbon cables (also no damage), and still nothing. Could it be the actual power button? Idk what to check next.

To diagnose you'll need a USB-C power meter which you put inline with your charger so you can monitor the voltage level. Here you should see a voltage change as the charger is handshaking with the system to determine the required voltage. If that is not happening the power logic needs repair.

As far as the Power Button is not easy to get to at you need to short across two of the contacts of the keyboard cable connector basically emulating what the switch does. Check the power first. You'll want to get the schematics and board view drawings to locate the pins you need to short out.

@bve45 we need to actually see your logic board. To check your power button, apply a jumper (use something like a screwdriver) across the two contacts shown, to turn your laptop on. On the keyboard connector itself, it will be pin 22 to ground. Now, you should still check the power etc. if it does not come on.

I tried the debug "buttons" and that did nothing, both with the battery connected and not
