Heya!
I recently replaced my battery after the 3DS spent some time with a dead one, it worked perfectly for 2 or 3 days then it stopped turning on, with the same problem I had with the old battery, that being the orange charging light turns on for a few seconds then turns off again, could this be a bad battery or something like a power button or motherboard issue?

Most likely a bad replacement part! I would return it and get yourself a new battery and see how that works out!
Especially because it did worked with a new battery suddenly… so most likely thats it.

I see, I have a friend with a fully working 3DS XL and I'll see how the battery works on his device to make sure.
And asking just in case, if it's not the battery, do you have any idea of what it could be?

If it's not the battery, then it could be the battery connector (pins) on the motherboard. You can also check the fuses if they are still OK. It also could be any other small electronic on the motherboard, but this is less likely.
