The opener no longer works with remotes and only closes when you hold the mounted door bell button. I disconnected both sensory wires on the back of the opener meaning they should not come into play. unfortunately I still must hold the button to get the door to close. No shorts in wire running from door bell to opener and hooked up properly to #1 and #2 screws…..HELP.

Have you tried reprogramming the remotes, you didn't say?
If not, see p.33 of the user manual for the procedure.
