sound card is installed speaker not working

@dennisgordon you are not telling us what OS you are using. If you are using Win10 etc. check the HP site for the proper driver. Uninstall your current driver and install the HP driver. Let us know if that changed anything.

If your HP Pavilion laptop’s speakers aren’t working, start by checking the sound settings. Right-click the sound icon, select Playback devices, and ensure “Speakers” is set as the default output. Next, open Device Manager, expand Sound, video, and game controllers, and update or reinstall the audio driver. Restart your laptop afterward. Also, verify that the audio isn’t muted and the volume is up. If you use external speakers or headphones, test them to confirm it’s not a hardware issue. Finally, run HP Support Assistant or Windows Troubleshooter to automatically detect and fix audio problems.
