AB-cover Replacement Mode for Screen Replacement

Hello,
According to this guide (Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 (13.5-inch) Screen Replacement - iFixit Repair Guide), the replacement starts without any software setting. However, the Microsoft official guide (Surface Laptop 3 and Laptop 4 Component Disassembly and Reassembly - Surface) says that AB-cover Replacement Mode is required before taking out the screen. Is it okay to start the replacement without this software setting?
