The most common cause is a settings or system issue, such as enabling the "Auto Restart" feature, or a glitch in apps or the system itself. Sometimes, the cause is hardware-related, such as the battery or motherboard.
---
- 🔎 Possible Causes of Continuous Restarts
- Auto Restart Enabled: Samsung devices have an "Auto Restart" option within Device Care. If enabled, the phone may restart periodically without notification.
- Corrupted Apps or Software: An incompatible or faulty app may cause frequent restarts.
- Incomplete or Corrupted System Update: If a system update is incomplete or an error occurs during installation, it may result in continuous restarts.
- Battery or Hardware Issues: A damaged battery or motherboard/memory problems may cause restarts until the battery is depleted.
- Overheating: High phone temperatures may force the system to restart to protect the components.
---
- 🛠️ Practical Steps for Diagnosis and Resolution
- Disable Auto-Restart:
- Go to Settings > Device Care > Auto-Optimization > Auto-Restart, then disable the option.
- Boot in Safe Mode: This helps you determine if the problem is caused by a third-party app. If the restart stops in Safe Mode, the issue is likely with one of your installed apps.
- Update System and Apps: Ensure your phone is running the latest official version.
- Clear Cache Partition: This may resolve temporary system issues.
- Check Battery and Temperature: If you notice your phone overheating or the battery draining quickly, you may need to check or replace the battery.
- Factory Reset: As a last resort if the previous steps fail, but be sure to back up your data first.
- Consult a Service Center: If the problem persists after all these steps, the issue is likely hardware-related and requires professional inspection.
---
📌 Summary: Constant restarting is often caused by a settings or software glitch, but if it persists even after a factory reset or in Safe Mode, the problem may be with the battery or motherboard. I recommend starting with the simple steps (disabling automatic restarts, entering Safe Mode, updating the system), and if the problem persists, then visit an authorized service center.

Hi @sshangreaujr
Why do you have to reboot the phone?
Does the problem occur if you start the phone in safe mode?
von jayeff
Updates, a weekly restart, whatever.
Whichever mode I boot into, the phone runs just fine unless/until I have to reboot. Then it continuously reboots until the battery dies. (I put in in the fridge when it does that so it won't get too hot.) When I start it up again, the cycle starts over. Runs fine until a reboot then just like poor, old Michael Finnegan, the reboot loop begins again. :-)

You said " Runs fine until a reboot...."
If it keeps on rebooting until the battery dies, how do you get it to fully boot and work OK?
von jayeff
@jayeff
After the phone dies and I start it back up, it works just fine until a reboot.

Don't you have to fully charge the battery first?
Instead of allowing a reboot what happens if you turn off the phone in the normal manner first and then try turning it on?
