My Xbox plays some discs and not others even when they're brand new out of the box. At times it will play a dvd but then sometimes not play it.
It also has an issue with inserting and ejecting the discs all the way which requires me softly pushing it in or pulling it out to function properly. Could this be part of the issue?

Hi!
Did you checked the laser it’s pot meters? Will check this one first.
I think it’s related To the laser, it’s probably getting bad.
Since you also have problems with injecting/ejecting the disk, I would just replace the disk drive completely.
Please beaware to swap the PCB from the new drive. Your original (old) disc drive board, need to be installed on the new drive. Otherwise it won’t read games.
