@tammymille29905 first you will make sure you have a proper, valid SIM card. Check with your service provider to make sure that your SIM card is activated..

check to make sure your sim card contacts are clean, no harsh chemicals or abrasives, a fiber glass pencil and alcohol should be enough. Make sure to blow out any of the dust and wipe clean the contacts with a alcohol coated swab.
