Why is my phone not charging?

I've had my lenovo A319 phone sitting in the drawer for years, but I finally decided to try to get it to open. The charging port was quite rusty so I got that replaced, and the battery was swollen so I also got a new battery, but it still doesn't charge. When "charging" it without the battery, the ammeter receives current, but when I place in the battery and try to charge it, the ammeter doesn't receive current for some reason, so does anyone know a fix for this?

@ezxd an ammeter does not receive current. It measure the current pulled from the AC adapter by your phone. If it does not pull any amps, (according to your ammeter) with the battery installed, check your charging port repair as well as the power rail on the board and your battery connector.

You did not tell us how many Amps your phone draws without the battery. Commonly draws of a steady 0.01A - 0.04A is caused by a bad capacitor or dirt/corrosion in the charging port. A steady 0.10A - 0.30A is caused by a shorted secondary power rail. If the amperages is fluctuating then it is caused by your PMIC trying to boot but fails because it can't find a battery. If you have a bench power, set that to 3.8V and connect it directly to the battery terminals. Check to see if your ammeter still draws the same amperage from the charger.

To disassemble your phone use something like this video

For that you will need to use the Lenovoe A319 MB AW598 as well as the Lenovo A319 MB AW598A Component Layout Check the traces around the battery connector and the charging rails. Check for corrosion as well as burned/missing components etc. You can also consider posting a couple of well focused pictures of your min board with your question. That way we can see what you see Bilder zu einer vorhandenen Frage hinzufügen

"There are two possibilities for why your ammeter shows current draw without a battery:

  1. Boot Cycle Load: If the current is low (below 0.5A) and the screen flickers or shows a logo, the phone is simply trying to boot up using the USB power.
  2. Short Circuit: If the current is higher than 0.5A and nothing happens on the screen, there is a short circuit on the motherboard (likely on the VBUS or VPH_PWR rail).

Why it drops to zero when the battery is inserted:

When you plug in the battery, the system senses the reverse voltage/feedback from the battery into the shorted circuit. The Power Management System (or CPU) immediately recognizes this as a fault (Short Circuit) and shuts down the charging process to prevent further damage.

You need to perform a short circuit test on the motherboard, especially around the charging IC and battery connector, to find which component is drawing the excess current."
