am near the ps3 and yet they console turnson automatically why is this
and this morn when I tapped a key on the laptop the ps3 started by itself any reason why it should do this even when i do not press the controller home button or the power button on the console itself

Hello! If your monitor/TV has HDMI-CEC, it is likely powering on the console automatically when your monitor turns on. You can turn this off in the settings of your display.

@dan0 the laptop is NOT connected by anything no cables and no wireless controls

The only thing I can think of is signal interference. There is not much else that can cause this. What kind of laptop is it? What happens if you use it in another room?

I tap a key to wake the machine and then the ps3 starts with no attached wires and its a fairly new hp envy x360 laptop

Please try to update the laptop drivers and BIOS. Does this make a difference? Best thing is to use HP Support Assistant.
