Hey, there fixer, here's a question that I want you guys at the iFixit community to answer!
So I used to have an iPad here at the workshop, but it got sent over t Apple.
But, it was only 64GB, How do i upgrade the physical SSD?

Well... this won't be easy as you need to fully remove the logic board to then take the shield lid off to get to the NAND (flash chip) here's the guide iPad 9 Logic Board tauschen. And here's a view of the board (I've highlighted it in Yellow)
You need a very steady hand to heat up the chip using a hot air rework station to soften the under fill and then carefully get the chips soldier pads to release without damaging them.
But you just can't slide in any chip it needs to have the correct image file installed and each different sized chip has a different one and you also need to edit it with your systems details. Given the amount of work, skill and tool costs it might be just better to replace the board with the one that offers the needed storage. Or, just get a replacement iPad as the cost may not be worthwhile or will you find a good board in the size you want.
Lastly, we still have a gremlin to deal with, as you need to replace the TouchID the board is mated with and if you buy a board it needs to be iCloud clean.

you need a nand programmer then you will need to remove the nand from the logic board and copy the data then you will need to write that data to the higher capacity nand and solder it to the logic board
