Whirlpool Washer WTW4816FW2 does not fill tank with water

Most washers detect the amount of water in the tub by a pressure switch mounted in the tub. As the water fills, an air tube fills with pressure until at a predetermined point it decides it's full, then the water shuts off. One of my old washers somehow got too much pressure inside the hose and it was sealed well enough that the pressure couldn't release. So every time it went to fill, the existing pressure caused it to shut off prematurely.

In my case, the fix was easy; all I had to do was take the hose off the pressure switch for a moment, relieving the pressure, then put it back on. Pressure equalized and tub filled properly again.

I'll be darned if I can locate a picture or a part number for the pressure switch on your washer, but the hose you want is indicated as part number 23 in the following diagram.

It's possible you might end up having to replace the water level switch, but try this first; it could be just this simple.

P.S., it appears the water level switch on your washer is integrated into the control board, meaning you'd have to replace the complete board assembly just to get a new switch. It's part number 6 in this picture.
