our freezer works fine, but the back of the fridge constantly freezes up. you can see ice coming through the vents in the back and you can hear the fan trying to turn to disperse cool air. Normally, we turn off the fridge for a night and let everything thaw out until the morning, but we would like to resolve the problem of the fridge icing up completly.

Sounds like there's a problem with the auto defrost in the refrigerator and the ice is not being melted during the auto defrost cycle and is building up.
This could be due to a faulty defrost heater, a faulty defrost thermostat, a blocked drain leading from under the evaporator unit to the evaporator drain pan under the compartments or worst case a faulty control board.

Go to p.70 (71 of 130 pdf) in the manual to see how to initiate the Self-diagnostic function during normal operation procedure and check what error codes (if any) are being displayed during the test.
