Imac 15.1
There is no sound from speakers, from time to time, there's a cracking sound. Headphones via jack works fine.
When using boot camp, sound from speakers works fine. Any suggestions?

Hi, @tomaszobojski I gotchu.
These methods might help.
1: Restart your iMac a couple times, to ensure the speaker refreshes and calibrates.
2: Turn the volume all the way up and try playing a YouTube video to see if your speakers will work.
3: Ask FixBot for troubleshooting help. Many fixers recommend FixBot.

Thanks, I was trying this and resetting audio settings via terminal but didn't work. I think that might be some issue with capacitors but I'm not sure.

@tomaszobojski this "When using boot camp, sound from speakers works fine" makes a component failure unlikely. Sounds more like a software issue or a stuck headphone jack. Plug a pair of standard 3.5mm headphones in and out several times and use dome puffs of canned air to make sure there is no debris causing this. Also, try a NVRAM/PRAM reset and see if that helps.

@tomaszobojski so you cleaned the jack and did a NVRAM/PRAM reset without success? You previously said you did reset the audio settings without success as well. Could still be a stuck jack. Take a look inside the headphone jack. If you see a steady red light glowing from inside the port your computer thinks that headphones are connected.
No, there is no red light. Jack headphones working, windows working, speakers cracking 😭
@tomaszobojski since the hardware works in Windows, the settings regarding speaker volume and routing are likely corrupted for macOS. You've tried the sudo killall coreaudiod command in Terminal?
Yes, I've tried. Fresh macos install (removing partitions, formatting drive) gives a fraction of second of normal sound but after then, sound goes mute and cracking sound starts again.
