How to fix rubbing in motor area?

I am trying to fix my dad's old CD player to use, and I am having trouble with the motor turning the CD. The CD will almost never turn inside unless it's spinning vertically, and it makes a loud plastic-rubbing-on-plastic sound the entire time. When looking at the base where the CD goes in, it seems to be a bit lopsided, but I can't find a way to easily take apart the motor area to diagnose the issue. anybody have any tips? I can buy a new motor and laser block off of eBay, but I would rather keep the original parts for nostalgia.

@tylerh20789 this "it seems to be a bit lopsided" makes me wonder if that is not the reason for the "rubbing in motor area". If it is cockeyed, it may just rub against the chassis and be the cause of the issue. Have you checked if all the mounting hardware etc. for the actually CD mechanism is still in place? If you have your CD player already open, post some good pictures of what that all looks like with your question. That way we can see what you see.
