Why does my Wii make a popping sound when plugging it in.

We unbox the Wii, hoping to get something good, we plug it in for the first time ever, it made a popping sound and caused all the power outlets in my house to stop working, @jayeff please help me find the culprit.

Hi @ahmadawick

If it is new take it back for a refund or a replacement.

If it's not new, do some basic tests to try and isolate where the problem may be.

You said "....plug it in for the 1st time...." do you mean you plugged in the Wii power adapter and the house fuse blew/circuit breaker tripped or when you you plugged in the adapter to the Wii and they blew/tripped or when you turned on the Wii that it happened?

If when you plugged in the adapter, use a meter to check if the adapter is OK i.e. not s/c on the power cord and that there's 12V DC on the output.

If when you turned on the Wii open the Wii and check for a s/c on the power input

It does sound like a faulty power adapter. But did the popping sound come from the Wii or the adapter? In any case, I would try getting a new adapter and testing that. However, I would probably recommend that you run it through a power strip with surge protection so that if it does turn out to be the Wii, it only trips the power strip instead of short-circuiting your entire house.
