1 Persistent freeze on wii sports resort golf
Hi,
Me and my roomates are big fans of playing Golf on Wii Sports Resort. We have the original Wii (NA Canada version, RVL-001 I believe) and original remotes with some Motion Plus adapters I bought online (not official I'm pretty sure). We've had some problems with syncing the adapters but always managed to make it work. However, we've had a lagging problem that has now turned in a freezing problem and happens everytime we play Golf. The game starts to lag and then freezes 100%, the remote is unresponsive (not even home button) and the game is hard stuck (altough the soothing wind sound is still playing, and music also when there is some). This happens around 3 holes in the game or before. Other games don't suffer from this problem and even other sports on Wii Sports Resort seem fine. I have even bought a brand new copy of the game thinking it would fix it but I have the same problem.
What I have done:
- Powercycle the wii.
- Clean the air traps of dust.
- Delete the game data.
- Desync (15s on the red button beside the sd card slot) the remote and resync.
- Bought a brand new disc.
- Recalibrate the sensor to max light setting.
- Update the wii system to last version (4.3U).
-Deactivated WiiConnect24.
I read that the disk is double layered and that might be the cause, and I need to clean the lens so I bought the lens cleaning kit and cleaned my lens 2 times today, without success. Could it be that I need a wii RVL-101 version for tbis game? However, I'm a bit skeptical that other games on the same disk are working. Also today I played some 3 holes and it worked fine, for some reason. Any of you ever had this problem and if so, how did you fix it? Thanks in advance for your help!

No, don't get a 101 model. The only difference between the models is that the 101 can't play GameCube games. If you have a copy of Smash Bros. Brawl, I'd try playing that first. It's also a double-layer disc, so that should help you narrow down what the problem could be. You could also replace the disc drive entirely, which I would say is probably the best option at this point.

I actually have brawl and have played it without any problems, although I played it one time only so it might have been a lucky day!

Well, I'd say you probably ought to try playing it again just to see. Is your Wii making loud noises while the drive is running? I had that problem at one point, and at first it would read discs normally. Then it started coming up with disc read errors every time it loaded a new section of whatever game I happened to be playing, and then it just refused to read any discs at all. I wouldn't be surprised if your problem is a very early stage of this issue, especially if your Wii is making a lot of noise. Like I said, the best way to fix that sort of issue is by replacing the disc drive.

I agree with Fixer of Stuff. It sound like beginning laser issues. Replacing the laser is a cheaper option too. Anyway, sound like laser issues so far.

Where did you get the new disk? Are there any scratches on the new disk?
