The K key on my macbook doesn't work in either caps or lower case. The i key works in upper case, but not in lower case.
Do I need to replace the top case which has the keyboard and trackpad or is it possible to fix something else to make these keys work again?

If you can press the nipple of the key and get it to work you just need a new plastic key... if not you could need a new entire top case or just a keyboard. Start by IDin your Mac follow the proper guide as you can see the parts and possibilities change from type to type.
