Yes that is absolutely an issue with the display panel. I'd recommend replacing with a premium soft OLED panel or OEM screen if you can source one if you plan on keeping it. LCD replacements are cheaper but they're thicker and require more energy to run, so you'll notice the phone running warmer and drain battery quicker.
