The laptop isnt starting but some lights are good

Hey,

I just bought this laptop used and its not starting, the carging led is on when plugged in and the battery one too, even the power button lights up, but no matter its not starting.

The only other thing it does is starting up the cooling fan at a, what sounds like, very high RPM when the powerbutton is held down longer then about 30 seconds and stops when i let go.

I unfortunatly can't contact the seller to ask him about it

@din98080 this "what sounds like, very high RPM" sounds like you may have a BIOS issue. Start off with the easy things. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from your computer. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. Remove the bottom cover and disconnect the battery. Now, hold the power button depressed for about 30sec-1min. Reapply the AC power adapter and see if your computer does show any sign of life. Let us know what you find out.

To work on your laptop use the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Gen 2 And 15 Gen 2 Hardware Maintenance Manual

@din98080 so the power button blinks white every 5 seconds? You did try the power supply from your other computer?

Hi @din98080

Seems that the laptop model is prone to this kind of failure.

Here's a video that may shed some light on what the problem might be. (read the Comments underneath as well)
