Why is my 2001 RAV4 1AZ Engine cranking but not starting, after engine overhaul?
- The timing is ok
- Have sparks & fuel flowing
- Engine compression tested & ok
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

Have you tried it with the air filter disconnected? You mentioned everything apart from airflow. If that doesn’t work I’d look at the timing again. Good luck.

@ted53890 Hi Ted. Yes, I tried starting the engine with the air filter disconnected but still the same, not starting.
The engine timing was double checked & the timing is ok.
The engine starts, when aero start is sprayed but will cut off after a few seconds.
Did engine compression test as well & the engine compression is good.
Used an OBD2 Scanner as well but, didn't detect any error codes.. Ta

Sounds like a gasket then. Head gasket, air intake gasket etc. sounds like it’s either sucking in or blowing out too much. Have you tested the compression?

@charleslaw16336 "The engine starts, when aero start is sprayed" you got a fuel issue or a timing issue (less likely) most likely is the fuel issue. You have checked your fuel pressures etc?

@ted53890 Yes, I did a compression test on all cylinders reading 160 psi.
