Try replacing the battery¹ and check if that resolves the problem.
If it is still intermittent after replacing the battery, check if the micro switches on the other side of the circuit board are OK and also that there are no cracks or corrosion on the board.
Here's a video that shows how to replace the battery.
At 1:35 minutes into the video you can see the switches.
¹ The battery is a CR2032 coin cell battery which is commonly available e.g. supermarkets. Also ensure that the replacement battery is installed the correct way as shown in the video. If you insert it upside down, the fob won't work!
