My Dell laptop says adapter type cannot be determined

My Dell laptop shows this error: “The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined.” The battery sometimes stays at 0% and the charger is not detected properly. Also, even after removing the charger, the charging symbol still appears, and the charging light stays ON even after shutting down the laptop completely. Could this be a charger problem, damaged charging pin, battery issue, or charging port issue?

@mohammedha62219 two thing you have to check are your charging cable adapter and your DC-in jack. Check for loose wires as wel as debris in the jack. Clean it wih a few puffs of canned air. Your power adapter uses the center pin to communicate with your laptop. If there is any debris in the jack, there will be no communication and you get the error you are getting.

If you have access to another power adapter, give that a try and see if it works. If you still have the same issue, you must consider changing the DC-in jack. Your DC-in jack is a power jack cable which makes it fairly easy to replace. Check this video for the how-to on that. It will work for your Vostro as well.
