iPhone SE 2020 - Single vertical line on left edge

Hello !!

I need some troubleshooting help with an iPhone SE 2020. A single, hair-thin vertical line has appeared on the left side of the display.

Two things happened around the time it appeared: I recently had the battery replaced at a shop, and I've also been using a questionable charging cable.

Additional Symptom: I noticed that the behavior is tied to the phone's temperature. The line sometimes multiplies (more lines appear) when the device gets warm or while it is actively charging. Conversely, when the phone is cool, the lines disappear entirely.

Could you help me with these questions?

Diagnosis: What is the most likely failure point here? Given that it reacts to heat, is this a thermal expansion issue with the LCD COF (Chip-on-Flex) bonding, or could it be pressure from the new battery?
Part Notifications: If a screen replacement is necessary, will the iPhone SE 2020 throw an "Unknown Part" or genuine display warning message in iOS settings?

Short answer: yes you’ll need to replace your screen and if it is genuine or secondhand it will have a “genuine display” message in the “parts and service history” in settings

The line appearing and disappearing because of temperature is probably because the connection between the flex cable and the LCD glass itself is unstable, and the effect would increase/decrease as temperature changes.

(Not a se screen but they are similar)

Some repair shop that can conduct LCD screen repairs might be able to reattach the flex cable to the glass, but the best and fastest choice now is to get a new screen.

If you don’t want the repair message to pop up, you can migrate the screen IC to the new screen to preserve the old screen’s serial number or whatever the phone recognizes. A repair shop should be able to do this, however if you don’t mind you can also use it as it is

Regarding the unstable connection between the flex cable and the LCD glass, is it possible to replace just the flex cable itself (like an LCD flex re-bonding service) instead of replacing the entire screen assembly?

@rdw_id yep it is possible but you’ll have to find repair shops that can actually conduct that repair.

Ah, I see. Given how complex the process looks, finding a shop with that kind of specialized bonding equipment might be tough and probably not worth the cost for an SE 2020.

To be honest, my main concern isn't the physical repair itself, but rather the 'Important Display Message' (non-genuine part notification) that pops up in the settings after a screen swap. I just really prefer to keep the phone’s settings menu clean without those hardware warnings.
