My ram usage is always 90%+ and I can't figure out why.

My RAM usage is always around 80-95% even when there is nothing running in my laptop. I have tried things like closing softwares that run in the background , scanning for viruses, etc. but it still shows 90%+ . Even all my drives are half empty .

Hi @jhonny123

Just verifying that when you say that you "...tried things like closing softwares that run in the background..." that you checked in Task manager > Startup to see what programs were started when Windows first started and that you disabled them and the problem is still there, is this correct?

Have you tried starting Windows in "safe mode" and checked if the problem was still there?

@jayeff yes ,I checked in Task manager . I started windows in safe mode after reading your comment, it worked fine . How can fix this problem in normal mode?

If if works OK in safe mode this is usually indicative of a driver problem.

Check in Device Manager that all the hardware drivers are the latest version (applicable to the OS i.e. Win10 or Win11) especially the graphics (video) drivers. Maybe do them first if they need updating.

There is a BIOS update as well but I personally don't like updating the BIOS unless I have no other choice. In any case try updating the drivers first before the BIOS and also do only 1 at a time and check if the problem remains or has gone and that everything works OK before doing the next. You will have to restart the laptop after each update for the changes to come into effect as drivers are loaded when Windows boots.

Takes a bit of time and maybe not necessary but saves a lot of time if you run into problems.

If you update all at once and there's another problem for whatever reason caused by an updated driver you don't know which one may be the culprit.
