Das D-Link DNS-323 ist ein Netzwerk-Speichergehäuse mit zwei Einschüben, das als umfassende Lösung für Netzwerkspeicher konzipiert ist.

power supply pin-out voltages

pin 12v and shows 11v have problem with erratic and drives showing and other times no with both amber led lights. could this be the reason why this is happening?

pin 5v and shows 5v correct

Jentec JTA0512 power supply taken apart for Dlink DNS-323 NAS unit and showing the swollen caps. Anyone have values for these? Thank you

the capacitors values are 16v 1000mf (10x16mm case size) and 16v 680mf (8x15mm case size)

Hi @frankkapiniaris

Usually electronic devices work on a maximum of +/-10% tolerance range with the voltage supply e.g. for 12V this is 10.8V-13.2V, so at 11V it's at the low end of the tolerance range which may be problematic.

Perhaps check if the electrolytic capacitors on the control board appear OK i.e. not domed or leaking. Also remove the CR2032 coin cell battery from the board and check its voltage as well. If it is <2.4V DC replace it.

Here's the ifixit D-Link DNS-323 Teardown guide that may help.

Hi @frankkapiniaris

The capacitance and voltage values are marked on each capacitor.

Take a picture of the board and then remove the faulty capacitors, one at a time, to read the value printed on the side of the capacitor.

Then mark the picture showing which one you removed and its value.

That way you know where the replacement should go and more importantly how it is connected on the board.

Electrolytic capacitors are polarity dependent so if you reverse them when reinstalling they will fail, sometimes spectacularly.

The grey strip down the side of the capacitor indicates the -ve (negative) leg whereas the board will show where the +ve (positive) leg is terminated. Usually there's a + symbol on the board next to where the +ve capacitor leg goes through the hole in the board to be soldered on the other side

@frankkapiniaris

Thanks for the feedback.

FYI in electronics terms to express for example 1000 microFarads it is written as 1000µF or 1000MFD.

m usually means milli which to x1000 greater than micro(µ) e.g.1000mF = 1.0F whereas 1000µF = 0.001F

Cheers

thanks for correcting my typo

@frankkapiniaris

All good,

I should have also said, apologies if you knew this already

Cheers

couldn't find the "µ" key on my keyboard but all good (wink) and now have to hunt for these components hoping this will solve the problem
