I spilled water on my Asus X550CA. After drying it, the laptop powers on, the fan works, and the keyboard lights up, but the screen stays black. What should I check first?

@djalelmadrid the very first thing you want to do is to make sure that you do not just dry your motherboard but that you also clean it. If you just let the water evaporate you will end up with corrosion on your motherboard etc. That will then cause complete failure in a couple of weeks and will require a much more extensive repair. So, remove your motherboard and clean the board with some +90% isopropyl alcohol. Also, clean all the cable connectors and cable ends. If you have an SSD on the motherboard, remove that before cleaning.
After cleaning the board, do a thorough visual inspection for any missing, deformed, or discolored components. If everything looks good, your next step is to check the video circuitry, as you might have a blown backlight fuse or a failed video component. You will need a multimeter to test the board properly. To help you further, we need to know the exact model number of your motherboard and see clear photos of both sides so we can try to find the schematics.

Fan and lights are a sign of life, this is encouraging.
You should try connecting to a different monitor or a tv using your hdmi or vga port. This will isolate the issue to just the built in display or not.
If the screen is truly the issue, you will want to check the 40 pin connector from the mb -> display. Please make sure the battery is out at this time to prevent any further damage.
If your able to send images of this connector to check for corrosion this would be helpful, otherwise try and find a spare part. A quick look on ebay and ive seen plenty of results for the mid 40's usd.
If you try the hdmi first, and get no output, then there is likely something deeper wrong with the device.
