Posting behalf of my friend, battery died so we removed it and tried to connect to wall directly but laptop doesn't start at all without the battery. Why is that? Why do we need the battery, can't I just directly connect to wall like other laptops.

Whether a particular battery powered device will run on AC power when the battery isn't installed is entirely up to the electrical engineers who designed it. As you've experienced, most laptops will run without a battery, but that's no guarantee they all will, as appears to be the case with yours.
Is the battery swollen? Otherwise if you're planning on running it on AC power all the time, why not leave the battery installed? Sounds like you might end up having to buy a replacement; your best bet for a cheap one would be on sites like AliExpress, Temu or WIsh, although the quality of the battery from those sites is a crapshoot. You may find deals on eBay and sometimes Amazon.

thanks for the answer, I thought all laptops could run with AC. They'll get a new battery anyways so was just looking for a temporary solution
