Brand new. Drum is filling up with clean water when not on

My washing machine is brand new, Hoover H-WASH 350 H3WPS 686TAM6-80, installed 4 days ago. It got switch on briefly by the engineer to set it up but has never been run.

But then I noticed the drum was nearly full with clean water this morning.

I had the same issue with a previous, also brand new washing machine, so this is already a replacement.

I checked other online articles and they all mention it’s fault of the washing machine’s water inlet, but given it’s new and I’ve already had an exchange, I doubt it’s because of the washing machine but I might be wrong.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What is the model number of the washer?

Drain the water from the machine (run a spin cycle) and when empty, turn it off and then check how quickly it fills.

If it has both a hot and cold water connection, empty the machine and turn off one of the water taps and see if it still fills. If not, turn off the open tap and open the other one and check.

Might be a way to isolate which valve is leaking

If there's a steady flow of water into the machine (or any kind of drip etc) contact the Hoover service centre in your location and show them the problem and get it replaced (again) or fixed under warranty.

The only thing that I can think of that may cause this if it isn't the machine that's the problem, is if the pressure of the household water supply connected to the washer exceeds the specifications of the water inlet valves. Then they might fail and drip etc.

Maybe check what the owner manual's installation guide shows about water pressure (if anything)

Did the engineer remove the transit bolts when the washer was first set up?

Look at the the back of the machine and check if you can see 4 large bolt heads.

If you can then they haven't been removed and they should have been. Worth a quick check.
