Dock Connector Causing no Power or MB?

HI,

So my water damaged iPhone came today, and I figured I would go with the water damage repair with the IPA. But, upon further investigation, the water damage dots on the MB shields and in the headphone jack are both white. The dock connector board one is red. I bought it water damaged from a phone repair company (didn't notice that until I bid...). It won't charge, won't come on. It has a new battery, and it appears as if the shields have been removed to do the IPA treatment, as the "band-aid" sticker thing that goes over both shields is missing.

Should I replace the dock connector, or should I clean the MB first? I figure if I choose wrong, I either waste money on a part I don't need, or damage the MB further.

Thanks

Hey Correy,

As long as you allow the MB to completely dry after soaking it in IPA, you shouldn't have any risk of damaging it. Liquid damage mainly occurs when there is a drop on the board that causes a short. As long as there is no liquid on the board when you run power through it, you cannot further damage the device with IPA. I would thoroughly clean the device before purchasing/installing any parts.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
