Disassembly and repair of USB terminal end of headset cable

I believe I have found an extremely prone week spot in the proprietary hdmi/usb cable used with the Rift headset. Since waiting for customer support takes so long and many report problems with the USB portion of the cable, I decided to carefully shave away the terminal end of the USB type A connector.

There is a small circuit board inside the reinforced cable that is connected to the USB connector. The connections consist of 8 wires that are VERY delicately soldered to the board. The cable color code is not standard to USB 3.0/3.1 specs. The circuit board appears to be made by a company called Spectra 7.

The point is, it appears impossible to repair if a small wire comes loose, and this is wherein the problem lies. Eventually, I imagine many customers will pull, yank, or tug on this cable. It will not take much to separate the wires from the USB circuit board. This USB connection is required for the system to work.

I have pics available if you would like to see them. Since there are no cable supply lines for this, I am wondering, can this item be repaired? It appears it would have to be done by a specialist that works with micro circuitry.

There are no supply lines to purchase and replace the cable, so the possibility of repair would be very interesting for many people.

It may be virtually impossible to repair the USB if damaged.

I hope these pics help. If you have any thoughts, please share.
