If the hard drive is not recognized when you plug it into your USB you need to go into your Device manager and initialize the SSD. The same way you would set up a brand new hard drive out of the box when you install it on your computer. It needs to be initialized before it is recognized or has the ability for use on your computer. You can also set it up as a storage bin in device manager. That is the way I always do it anyways, Or you can purchase a duel interface casing as mentioned in previous comment a while ago.
