Just an update to my last post. I took the machine apart again and using a can of air blasted all the dust out. I then checked all the connectors and made sure everything looked ok. I pulled the temperature sensor from the drive and the board and then reconnected it, ensuring that the connections were good. I reassembled the machine, plugged it in, and booted it up...same issue. However, my fan will eventually reach about 4.5k RPMs and stay there, not the 5k I reported earlier. Some things to note, the model# for this machine is EMC No 2374. All other fans, and temps, look normal. The HDD temp is at 38C, but the HDD fan is at 4524RPM. The drive I bought, following the guide, was the Seagate model# ST31000524AS. The drive that I pulled out of the machine was the ST31000528AS. The differences can be found here:

The ST31000524AS is a 6Gb/s drive whereas the ST31000528AS is 3GB/s:

Barracuda SATA Product Manual, Rev. A (ST31000524AS):

Barracuda 7200.12 Serial ATA Product Manual, Rev. C (ST31000528AS):

I went ahead and purchased the ST31000528AS from another site to see if that makes a difference. If it does, the step by step guide might need to reflect this information. I'll post an update once the other drive is installed. Some more system info:
