Hi,
According to the [link|http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05128309.pdf|maintenance and service guide] for the laptop, taken from this support [link|https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-15-as000-notebook-pc-touch/10862137/model/11830104/manuals|webpage], you can have both a HDD and an SSD in the laptop,
-Go to p.33 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to insert an SSD drive. Also on p.33 you will find the HP recommended SSD part numbers. Search online using the ''part number only'' for the one you want, to find suppliers that suit you. Alternatively you can install any M.2 2280 NVMe SSD at least up to 4TB capacity. After that I'm not sure if it supports a larger capacity SSD drive or not.

If inserting an SSD, to improve performance I suggest that you install the OS and any 3rd party programs on the SSD and configure the HDD as the storage drive. You can always replace the HDD with an SSD as well.
