Noise cancelling suddenly not working on right side.

Hello all,
Today I was surprised when I turned on my headphones when I noticed that noise cancelling did not work on the right side.
Sound works fine and has no issues playing, they sound the same as they always did with noise cancelling turned off.
I already reset them, tried the calibration setting in the app but nothing worked.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
Any troubleshooting steps?
Also, when I turn on noise cancelling the sound on the right is much louder than the left.

+edit: after having switched around the mics, the effect is still the same.
