The 2nd generation iPad mini was released on October 2, 2013. The biggest upgrade to the iPad was the new Retina display which boasted a 2048x1536 resolution. Some of the hardware used for the iPad mini with Retina Display was also used in the iPhone 5S including the A7 processor and cameras.
