Mein Problem
I had an SSD laying around in an old laptop, so I figured I'd put it back to use and install it into my Mac Mini, ideally configuring it as a fusion drive just to speed the MM up while not being forced to micromanage its storage.
Meine Reparatur
Hardware wise, great. The inside of the MM is tight, but its about as easy as you could expect the installation to be considering. Software, another story. Creating the Fusion drive using command line that you can find on the internet or YouTube is easy as could be. For some reason though, Yosemite won't complete either a fresh install or a Time Machine backup on the newly created Fusion Drive. Both get hung up on the last screen - for the TM backup, that screen is "Success. Restarting your computer," while on the fresh install its the "Setting up your Mac" screen. Still trying to sort it out.
Mein Rat
Hardware - Don't be threatened by this install. It is pretty simple considering how completely you deconstruct the computer.
Software - The jury is still out on this one.
