Replacing iPod 3G battery

Battery on 'vintage' iPod no longer held a charge for more than a few days, even with no use.

Repair was simple and fast. Case came apart more easily than expected.

In Step 10 of the guide, it is a very good idea to remove the T6 Torx screw - otherwise be very careful not to cut the insulation on the battery wires on the sharp edge of the circuit board when you are poking them under the board. Also, in Step 8 (reassembly), reattaching the hard drive ribbon cable connector feels odd, as the connector is so flat that you don't feel a positive connection when you press it back on - just be sure the cable isn't loose before completing reassembly.
