Mein Problem

The MBP got dropped and landed on a corner of the top cover, resulting in a visible bend and a scrambled screen.

Meine Reparatur

The instructions were great. I worked through them slowly and meticulously, taking probably closer to 1.5 hours all up. I also took the opportunity to blow out all the accumulated dust and crud from the fans and heat sinks while I had it apart.

Mein Rat

The hinges are very stiff without the benefit of leverage from being attached to the lower clamshell. In order to open the mounting tabs on the new display to a workable angle before you can mount it, you will need to grip them with a pair of needle-nosed pliers, or use your spudger to gently pry them away from the screen - but be careful to pry only against the frame, not the screen itself.

And buy a spudger! I had a couple of anti-static prying tools already, but nothing that had a point like the spudger. So glad I bought one - it was invaluable for working with the tiny and fiddly wireless antenna connectors.
