Successful iPhone 5 battery replacement

The left side of my iPhone 5 screen had pushed up and the home button responses became erratic In addition, sometimes the lightening cable needed several tries to be recognized. These are symptoms of a swollen and failing battery.

The repair is quick and easy if done carefully. One note is that shipping was quite slow by UPS Ground (7 days) considering the exorbitant shipping cost ($16!).

Mein Rat

I skipped removal of the entire front screen as others noted these steps aren't necessary if done carefully. Also, using a hair dryer to heat the back of the phone was key to loosen the adhesive holding the battery.
