Mein Problem

Battery was not holding charge and on multiple occasions the reading on the battery percentage was false (Phone says it's at 49% when actually under 10% or vice versa). Lightning connector was damaged so that any charging cord used would have to be situated in such a position and cannot be moved as that would lose the connection

Meine Reparatur

The replacement process took longer than expected. The biggest obstacle was removing the old battery due to the old adhesive. Instead of pulling straight out like most guides predicated, the tabs broke instantly, causing me to resort to other methods of extraction. The dental floss method had no affect and heating the back of the phone in hopes of loosening the adhesive was to no avail. This resorted in the 30-45 minutes of prying with a spudger, ultimately bending the old battery. I had no remorse for the battery because I was just going to throw it away but for those who have hopes of retaining the previous battery, try a more calm and less eager approach than forcefully prying it out.

The lightning connector swap was much less headache inducing than the battery proved to be. However, Apple adhesive proved to be relentless in this endeavor as well. After removing the original assembly, ignoring how dirty it had gotten, I noticed that it included some components that the replacement piece did not have. Two small rubber pieces, rubber microphone cover and headphone gasket, had to be extracted and relocated onto the replacement assembly. Installing this new part proved rather trivial where the most difficult part was plugging the antenna back into its extremely small port on the phone, taking around 10-15 minutes to finally succeed.

Reassembling the LCD screen gave me some problems where some of the connections weren't fully made so the screen would show white boxes or the touch function was split down the middle where only the left side would respond to touch.

Mein Rat

Not stated in the repair process, I had mucked up the installation of the new adhesive on the replacement battery. It all bunched into a ball like a piece of chewed gum. I eventually just cut those two balls of adhesive because there was no chance of fixing that and in trying to keep them there underneath the battery caused the battery to push up on the LCD causing visible points of distortion and possibly damaging the screen. I was able to savage about a half inch of adhesive and made do with what I had. The battery doesn't have much room to wiggle around in anyway but the little adhesive still gave peace of mind that the battery won't be moving around and disconnecting anything.
