Screen Replacement for Galaxy S3

Timothy Hoffman -

Mein Problem

The screen was broken due to being dropped on one corner. The initial failure of the screen was due to the buss connector disconnecting from the impact. But the screen also had a large, diagonal crack in it and needed to be replaced.

Meine Reparatur

The repair went fine. I created an ESD safe environment by turning off the Air Conditioning to allow the humidity to rise. All the work was done on a piece of aluminum foil; I made an ESD wrist strap by connecting a piece of copper wire from my wristwatch (stainless) band to the foil.

The old Galaxy S3 is pretty straightforward and I didn't require a guide.

Mein Rat

Create an ESD safe setup. Not doing so can result in damage to the motherboard which may not even be apparent for some time after the repair. I know a lot of people don't do this, but it is always a good idea.

Also, don't forget to transfer the side buttons to the new screen, which doesn't come with any buttons.
