Successful LCD Replacement on a 13" Unibody Macbook From Late 2008.
Mein Problem
My 13" Unibody Macbook from late 2008 started displaying horizontal lines that would go away when tilting or pressing the display slightly. After a while it got worse and vertical bars would that wouldn't go away. I knew it wasn't a software problem because the lines changed position when touching the screen but I wasn't sure whether it was the LCD or the LVDS display cable. Luckily I found a post from someone who had worked with mac repairs who stated that the problem was almost always the LCD and nearly never the cable. I then ordered a display from iFixit and it arrived in Sweden from California in three days.
Meine Reparatur
Everything worked great and the macbook is now as good as new.
Mein Rat
I decided to go a quicker route by directly detaching the glass (after removing the battery) instead of opening the whole computer up. It goes a lot quicker but attaching he LVDS cable clip is slightly more difficult this way.
I would recommend being very careful when dragging the spudger or credit card under the glass as it's easy to damage the rubber seal. Use a rounded spudger without sharp edges. Also I would recommend starting to remove the glass from the left side since there aren't any cables there. I started from the right side and somehow nearly managed to cut the camera cables with my credit card.. d'oh!
