The repair was smooth, the guides on your page are amazingly detailed and very easy to follow! ... However! An this only afected me and probably a very small amount of people but I have a white first generation ( fat ) 40Gb Japanese PS3 so the inners of mine were slightly different than the American version. Down to the design of the motherboard!! But even then I was able to look up a teardown guide if my own model along with your guide and REVIVE my beloved PS3 :) thank you Ifixit!! Had I known I was gonna be able to do it I would have ordered my set as soon as it happened!
Mein Rat
Nothing beats the nervousness of re-powering the PS3 and watch it smoothly start again. I stood there with my fiancee watching it start and we then proceded to enjoy a nice movie on netflix!!
Take your time and make sure you arrange the screws and others in order so that you know what goes where when you put it back together again, believe in yourself and make sure you pay attention when it comes to the cleaning and re-pasting of the chips! Good luck!!
