Mein Problem

I accidentally included my phone in a load of laundry. It was basically unresponsive when it came out of the machine.

Meine Reparatur

Opening the phone and replacing the battery was relatively straightforward; I just followed the iFixit instructions. The phone booted OK, but alas the display was shot, and the home button didn't work either. At that point I decided I was better off going to the apple store for a replacement.

Mein Rat

After drying the phone out, and before proceeding with any repairs, I probably should have tried plugging it in to check on the condition of the display.
