Mein Problem
Accidentally ran an Iphone 4 through the washing machine for 10 minutes. Took the phone out and put it in rice for 3 days. After three days, the phone would power on when plugged into an outlet, but the software said it needed a full restore and the system would lose power whenever it was hooked up to a computer. Identified that the battery was dead and couldn't hold a charge. Took it to the Apple store and they said it was garbage and I would have to buy a new one. My wife was devastated as she had some pictures and other items on the phone but no back-up to restore them. Data recovery recommended by Apple wanted $700 to get the data off the phone.
Meine Reparatur
The repair went amazing and was really easy. Probably took about an hour, but that was because it was my first time and I wanted to be really careful. Once the battery was in, the phone charged fine. I was then able to hook the phone up to a computer, recover all the data and the phone still works great to this date.
The most tricky part was probably putting back in the little antenna part as I had a hard time finding pictures of how it should look, but I was able to find them and then it was easy.
The phone did have another issue in that it wouldn't wake up from sleep mode when incoming calls or texts came, but that was actually a software issue and a reinstall of IOS solved that as well.
Mein Rat
My advice is to take pictures as you go just for your own piece of mind and make sure you have the right tools before you begin. I didn't have the Plastic tools, but a butter knife worked pretty well for the battery removal and other tasks.
