When you finally find a computer that you can't live without, why let it slip away just because of an ailing hard drive? I have enjoyed working with my G5 imac for over six years. The emails, pictures and resumes we had in common demanded that I "try" to bring it back to life, rather than a trip to the dumpster.

Meine Reparatur

The repair involved a complete dis assembly of the imac into something reminiscent of Fred Sanford's backyard. The ifix manual was straightforward, but failed to provide guidance for stripped t6 screw. No problem, I used my father's tried and true method-a power drill. In all, 2 hours of time, a bit of cursing, and a final silent prayer as I pushed in the power button on the rear of the imac.

Mein Rat

I cannot thank the ifixit guys and gals enough, as the computer is once again working without fault. I cannot recall any self-repair that has been more satisfying. The product, the service and the follow-up provided by ifixit should be the manual that future e-businesses try to emulate. I could not be more pleased with the experience and recommend ifixit without reservation!
